Howdy folks, welcome to week 3 of your CSA! We hope everyone enjoyed their bounty from last week. We have a really great box for you, and with this cooler weather it will be a the perfect bounty to get in the kitchen and crank up the oven.
We have been busy this last week digging carrots in the fields. We are using a blade implement behind the tractor that digs and lifts the carrots out of the ground so we can harvest.
Surprisingly we harvested close to 400 pounds of carrots on Thursday last week and have already sold them all! We had them at the farmer’s market this past Saturday, and between that and restaurants they are already gone! I made some carrot and ginger soup last night that turned out pretty good! I got the recipe from the gals at Hardware for Her at the Revell Ace in Deville Plaze. I will link it below.
We are back at the New Orleans’ Crescent City Farmers Market on Tuesdays and there is also a new farmers market we hope to attend in Ridgeland! Called True Local Market, and it will be at First Methodist Church on Jackson St. The market will run Saturdays from 2-6pm and Sundays from 1-6pm until the end of the year. We hope to attend this market, it is set outdoors in a beautiful area! It starts this Saturday October 20th.
We hope everyone has a wonderful week and enjoys this week’s bounty! It is a good one for making soups all week long to accompany this cooler weather! Here are the contents of this week’s box:
Lacinato Kale
Kohlrabi (2)
Baby Greens MIx- Mix of Mizuno, Tatsoi, Kale, Mustards, and Arugula! This tender and flavorful mix makes for wonderful salad, or addition to any braising mix.
