Howdy Folks! Welcome to week 6 of your Fall CSA. We had a fun time celebrating Halloween last week, and hope y’all did too! Hazel was dressed as a witch and Ivan was a skunk! Stinky boy! haha

We had received 300 new 1 day old baby chickens. They are now almost 5 weeks old, and boy do they grow so fast! They will be mature enough to lay eggs around 20 weeks old. It is really crazy to see them grow, interact, and to realize just how closely related to dinosaurs they are. I swear we have 300 baby raptors on our hands! Hazel loves to help me tend to them. She of course has already picked out and named a few. :)

We hope y’all have been enjoying all of your boxes so far! It has been a great harvest, and we are thankful for what has come out of the field.

There is a really bad worm epidemic in 20 countries right now. We are DEFINITELY experiencing activity at the farm. Supposedly they have grown resistant to chemical sprays that commercial growers use, and they are destroying crops all over the world! Van and I have never seen them as bad as they are this year. Mother Nature always has a way to put things into it’s place. You would think and hope that when an insect becomes so resistant to a chemical that it is a good sign to stop the spraying! A WAKE UP CALL! Sadly, I don’t think it will happen.

With all of that being said, we are even more grateful that you have chosen to support your local small farmer! If everyone would do the same then we could make a difference on our impact to the world and our impact to the foods we eat. Thank you all so very much. Have a great week and here are the contents of this week’s box:

  1. Baby Radish

Do not discard those greens! They cook and taste similar to Swiss chard.
