Hey y’all, and welcome to week one of your fall CSA! We are so thankful you have joined us, and we look forward to a great season!

Things have been busy here as you can imagine. We are still planting a few things, and harvesting so much winter squash. The greens are loving this cooler weather, and I must say I am very glad that things have FINALLY cooled off a little! It was a bit strange harvesting pumpkins in 95 degree weather! We had our first fire of the season this past weekend while watching the full moon rise. Very nice to be able to sit back and enjoy the weather for a little bit. Now, we just need the rain to slack off a little!

It is a fun box this week, and there is a lot of variety! Again, why this time of the year is my favorite! We hope you enjoy your veggies! Here are the contents of this week’s box:

  1. Beefsteak Tomatoes- Field grown, Mississippi tomatoes!

  2. Shishitos- Some of you may remember the shishito peppers from last year! They are a thin walled blistering pepper. Mild and sweet roulette pepper, meaning that 1 in 10 will be spicy! These are some of our favorites that we grow. I will post an awesome, easy blistering recipe that makes for a great appetizer. Or try sliced and roasted with thyme sweet potatoes!

  3. Arugula- Very tender, leafy greens that have a distinctive peppery flavor. The possibilities what to put this green on are endless! Salads, pizza, pasta, soups, eggs, etc……. try a little on everything and find your favorite!

  4. Striped Acorn Squash- Similar to acorn squash in size and appearance minus the stripes, but so much sweeter and has a great nutty flavor.

  5. Green Curly Kale- Great used in salads, soups, or sautéed as well.

  6. Italian Eggplant

  7. Sweet Potatoes

  8. Jalapeños- Classic hot pepper. Add a little or a lot to any dish or try the baked poppers recipe below.
